Wedding &
Baptism Sabbath Morning
May 31,
2015
This
was a small wedding ceremony on Sabbath morning, May
30, 2015, at 10:15 a.m. in the pastor's office at
Grant's Town Church. Timothy Sands and Keishee
Davis became one in marriage. Timothy is the
adopted son of the late Geletha Gibson, a member of
Grant's Town, who died April 5, 2015. Timothy
and Keishee attended the funeral and responded to
the alter call the pastor made. They never
stopped coming to church since that date. They
have been living together for 20 years and have two
children. They decided to do it right.
They got married and then got baptized that morning
at church with another young man and adult lady.
Attending the small ceremony were Michael and Alvern
McCoy as witnesses, Dr. Joseph Evan, Damartio Green,
Mrs. Darling, along with the pastor.
The baptismal service was special.
Since
the church indoor poor is not functioning a small
plastic round pool was set up just outside on the
Western side of the church. Midway during the
second Divine Service the four candidates moved
directly to the pool. The congregation was
able to view the baptisms on the screen with the use
of a video camera. The pastor used the
cordless microphone to speak to the congregation.
It was a beautiful service.
Saturday
Night Was Alive and Buzzing
May 31,
2015
On Saturday night, May 30, 2015, the Families
Ministries Department at Grant's Town sponsored a
wonderful social event. More than one hundred
and fifty members and friends attended. The
talked and laughed with each other. It was a
wonderful time for mingling and sharing. There
were table games, food, and fellowship in the Anex.
There was fun games and volleyball on the parking
lot. It was real fun. Click on photos to

IT WAS A GREAT CLEAN UP DAY:
Sunday, May 24, 2015 you responded warmly and
with your muscles and working hands for cleanup
day. It was great! Perhaps almost one hundred
people came out. We cleaned and cleaned
everywhere. We dumped and dumped. Men and women,
boys and girls, all flexed their muscles. Now we
have more space and are better organized. There
are still lots more to do. They will be done by the
deacons and specialized persons. For example,
painting of children’s rooms, painting of the
stairway upstairs and adding slip resistance strips
on the steps (the dark brown is going to change to a
lighter color), building of shelving and cupboard
for better storage and organization, etc. I thank
all who came for your tireless work. Some of us
were there from 7 a.m. to almost 6 p.m. Most
people left about 4:30 p.m. Thanks to Moses
Armbrister and the fellowship staff for the
wonderful breakfast and lunch.
A RESPONSIVE CHURCH:
Last Sabbath, May 23, 2015, you responded warmly to
my request to write short encouraging words to the
Johnson family on the loss of their son/brother. I
gave to Bernadette Johnson on Sabbath, sixteen
papers of warm notes coming from you. Some of these
paper were written on back and front making it at
least twenty-five pages of kind words. This was so
special. Also remember to give this week a food
item to show you love and kindness in this time of
loss. You can give a bag of oranges, or box of
cookies, or pot of rice, or just anything you can
afford.
FOCUS ON EDUCATION
Character building is the most important work ever
entrusted to human beings; and never before was its
diligent study so important as now. Never was any
previous generation called to meet issues so
momentous;
never before were young men and young women
confronted by perils so great as confront them
today. Education by Ellen G. White Page 225

Thanks to Armbrister and his staff for the wonderful

missing chairs from the sanctuary (pass midway
towards the back). These places will have wheel
chair decals placed on the floor to let us know that
these spots are reserved for disabled persons in
wheel chairs.
One great thing that was done that really eased my
mind was the removal of the concrete block with
protruding steel that was located near the road. It
was truly a safety hazard. See the photos of what
changes took place.

FLORAL DEPARTMENT:
Are you celebrating a birthday, anniversary,
promotion or just feel like beautifying the church?
If so, why not show your appreciation to God by
giving a floral arrangement or live plant to enrich
the sanctuary. May God continue to bless each one as
you contemplate giving. Interested persons can
contact Sisters Avril Sullivan at telephone
#323-7734, or Lathera Knowles.
HABITS FOR MARRIED COUPLES:
HABIT #1 -
AVOIDING A JUDGMENTAL ATTITUDE- “A hallmark of
people who are good at getting their partners to
treat them well is that they know that when they
get upset with their partners, it doesn’t
necessarily mean that their partners have done
anything wrong.
HABIT #2 - FINDING
THE UNDERSTANDABLE PART - “When disagreements
arise, most of us tend to think of our own
position as reasonable and the other person’s as
unreasonable. If you want to receive
understanding, first give understanding.
HABIT #3 -
IDENTIFY THE UNDERLYING NEEDS, VALUES AND
WORRIES- ”Many times, people find that when
they’re motivated to keep open minds and they
try
to understand the
logic behind their partners’ viewpoints or
actions, they no longer have problems with what
their partners want. However, there are other
times when they still find that they see things
differently than their partners, or that they
have different priorities or expectations.
HABIT #4 - GIVING
AND ASKING FOR EQUAL REGARD- “The most
successful intimate partnerships operate like
democracies: one person, one vote. In a
democratic society, when people go to cast their
votes, there is no obligation to prove that
their reasoning is good enough for their votes
to count.
HABIT #5 -
OFFERING ASSURANCE- “One thing is clear from
research on intimate relationships: Arguments
don’t have to be pretty in order to be
productive. In fact, they can be downright ugly
without causing lasting negative consequences.
Studies reveal that partners destined to succeed
are often defensive, bull-headed, and
unresponsive to their partners. The difference
is that, after a failed argument, partners who
succeed in their relationships are effective at
repairing the damage, whereas partners destined
to fail are far less successful at repair.”
FOOD BARREL:
Members are encouraged to bring nonperishable food
items each week to assist in our ministry to persons
in the church and community who are in need.
SAMARITAN’S PURSE:
As you plan your giving please remember to give to
the Samaritan’s Purse.
A special note of thanks is extended to all those
persons who have supported and continue to support
the Samaritan's Purse. May God continue to bless you
always!
BIRTHDAY/ANNIVERSARY GREETINGS –MAY:
Happy birthday/anniversary to all who celebrated
this past week
May God continue to bless you all as you celebrate
another milestone.
If you would like your name or the name of a family
member added to
this page, please contact the church secretary.
PRAYER REQUESTS:

compassion, please continue to pray for and visit

FOCUS ON EDUCATION
Caution to a Youthful
Student.--- You are now in your student's life; let
your mind dwell upon spiritual
subjects. Keep all
sentimentalism apart from your life. Give to
yourself vigilent self-instruction, and bring
yourself under self-control. You are now in the
formative period of character; nothing with you is
to be considered trivial or unimportant which will
detract from your highest, loliest interest, your
efficiency in the preparation to do the work God has
assigned you.
The Adventist Hope,
page 53
Congratulations
to Omarinique Skippings for obtaining an A in
Teaching Practice. Omarinique will graduate on May
28th with Bachelors Degree in Pre-School
and Primary Education from the College of the
Bahamas. TO GOD BE THE GLORY
Sally Fernander and Veronica Neymour wish to express
heartfelt thanks to the Adventist Men of the Grant's
Town Seventh-day Adventist Church, for their
thoughtful gesture in bestowing on us this
year's Mother's Day honour.
Condolences to the following families: Veronica
Neymour and family request your sincere prayers as
her and her sons are in Andros attending the funeral
of Sidney Neymour, her brother-in-law. Three years
ago during this period, she lost her husband Bro.
Cedric Neymour. Please continue to pray for the
Neymour Family. Much love and God's blessings to
each of you. Sis. Veronica Neymour.
To the Morris family especially Horatio & Amira
Sullivan on the loss of his sister-in law Shawnalee
Morris who pass away on Thursday morning. The
church family morns with you.
Let us remember to keep these families in prayer.
TIPS FOR SINGLE ADULTS:
-
Enjoy your single life.
-
Know that you are created in the image of God.
-
If you want to get married make sure you are
happy as a single first. Marriage does not make
you happy it only makes you married. Happy
people make happy marriage.
-
If marriage is your goal do not be unequally
yoked.
-
Put obedience over passion.
-
Put on the armor of God daily.
-
Physical expression must be appropriate.
Physical touch/intimacy should correspond with
commitment. This doesn’t mean anything goes if
you are engaged. Physical touch should be in the
context of a meaningful relationship, not
reduced to satisfaction of personal need.
-
Examine your personal motive. Physical
touch/intimacy should correspond with
commitment. This doesn’t mean anything goes if
you are engaged. Physical touch should be in the
context of a meaningful relationship, not
reduced to satisfaction of personal need.
-
Be guided by love versus lust. Love is the
fruit of the Spirit. From love comes
self-control. Operate in love, not lust.
-
Allow the Holy Spirit to direct and lead you.
If you feel convicted of certain behaviors, stop
doing them.

to complete task by situating the disposal bin in a
better position.
CHILDREN’S MINISTRY:
Congratulations to all children who submitted poems
for the CHAM Poetry Fest especially Destiny
Sutherland and Daniel Perpall who performed their
pieces at Hillview last Sabbath afternoon.
EDUCATION TIPS:
What do students carry with them when they
leave school? Where are they going? What are
they to do? Have they the knowledge that
will enable them to teach others? Have they been
educated to be true fathers and mothers? Can they
stand at the head of a family as wise instructors?
The only education worthy of the name is that which
leads young men and young women to be Christlike.

Faith of Our Mothers
Words by Arthur B. Patten (1864-1952)
Faith of our mothers, living still
In cradle song and bedtime prayer;
In nursery lore and fireside love,
Thy presence still pervades the air:
Faith of our mothers, living faith!
We will be true to thee to death.
Faith of our mothers, loving faith,
Fount of our childhood's trust and grace,
Oh, may thy consecration prove
Source of a finer, nobler race:
Faith of our mothers, living faith,
We will be true to thee till death.
Faith of our mothers, guiding faith,
For youthful longing, youthful doubt,
How blurred our vision, blind our way,
Thy providential care without:
Faith of our mothers, guiding faith,
We will be true to thee till death.
Faith of our mothers, Christian faith,
Is truth beyond our stumbling creeds,
Still serve the home and save the Church,
And breathe thy spirit through our deeds:
Faith of our mothers, living faith!
We will be true to thee till death.
