Key Questions for Building the Hot You

He was asked to speak on sexual purity.
The theme was "Building the Hot You."
The three most important
decisions in life?
-
Your
spiritual direction. What or who will
be your God? It is not just
choosing God. It is how you will live for God
and how much of your life you will give to
God. Some people choose a "god"
(drugs, pornography, car, job, etc) and have
been fooled that they are worshiping God.
-
Your
occupational direction
and how will you engage in
service? It is not the specific
choice of career. It is how much of
your life you will commit to service to
others, a will you lead a life of integrity
and honesty
-
Your
social direction. It may or may not
include marriage. It is certainly not the
choice of a mate as many have been taught.
This most important decision is about how
faithful you will be to yourself if your
remain single or to your spouse if you get
married. If we say the choosing a life
partner is a most important decision we all
must make then we can make a single adult
feel bad if they cannot find the right
person to marry. Marriage is not a
requirement for heaven. Living a
morally clean life is.
What does "hot for Jesus" mean?
-
Living
fully for Jesus. It is a
lifestyle the includes the physical,
emotional, intellectual, sexual, financial,
and spiritual commitment to Jesus.

Total
obedience. It is not blind
obedience or compliance. It is the
acceptance of God's principals as the normal
part of your life. It is called
transformational obedience. It is not
extrinsic but intrinsic obedience.

Total
surrender. This is admitting
that you cannot do anything without Christ.
It is surrendering a desires and habits
under Jesus' control.

Excited about sharing Jesus with others.
You enjoy and feel free sharing you loved
for Jesus to anyone.

Not
ashamed to say “No” to doing bad things.
You will run when someone entices
you to have sex. You will stand up and
say "no" even if they laugh at you.
What does sexual purity mean?
-
Sexual
purity is not engaging in any form of sexual
activity (clinical or emotional)
before marriage and remaining faithful to
you marriage partner (no pornography or
affairs) after marriage.

Sexual
purity is a state of mind and body. Sexual
abstinence is a state of body only.
To be hot for Jesus, we need both of them.
-
Sexual
purity is the dedication of your entire body
to Jesus. Male students: "I
dedicate my penis, lips, tongue, fingers,
eyes, and ears to God." Female
students: "I dedicate my vagina, clitoris,
breast, lips, tongue, fingers, eyes, and
ears to God."
What are the roadblock to making wise decisions?
-
Inability to
think and act independently. Proverbs 23:7,
Philippians 4:8

Inability to
think critically. Romans 12:2, Isaiah 1:18, 1
John 4:1

Lack of
self-management. 2 Corinthians 5:14, Romans
8:38-39

Lack of
positive self-esteem. Romans 5:8
-
Being easily
motivated by powers outside of yourself.
