WHAT IS IT?: Preparing for marriage counseling sessions are for couples getting married who desire to have a professional prepare them for a life-long relationship. They will also be able to deal with any current issues, if any, that are impacting the relationship. Link

HOW MANY SESSION:

Eight (8) session before the wedding day. The sessions are spaced between one and three week apart. However, they also can be weekly.

One session (9th session) six months after the wedding day.

One session (10th session) is one year after the wedding day. These last two session are follow-up session to simply evaluate the couple's adjustment and growth in the marriage

WHEN TO START?:

Ideally, a couple should begin pre-marriage counseling between six and one year before the wedding day. However couples can begin session closers to the wedding day. Also note that sufficient time is needed for effective evaluation, assimilation, and application of information learned.

TOOLS/CURRICULUM USED:

Barrington Brennen tailors the topics to be dealt with to the needs, dynamics, and characteristics of the couple. However, as a guide, he utilized the following:

Prepare Enrich Work Book for Couples. This workbook provides a curriculum guide for the sessions. The workbook is bought during the first session. See Cost

Prepare Enrich Inventory. Prepare/Enrich is an excellent assessment tool for couples (married or dating) to discover their relationship strengths and growth areas. This inventory is done online within the first week of counseling. See Cost

COST:

$120 to $140 for first session (Includes the Work Book)

$80 for all other sessions.

$35 for Prepare Enrich. The couple pays this one-time fee online. Barrington Brennen will register to take the inventory. After which they will each receive an email with instructions where to pay the $35 and to take the inventory.
